Notice to Schools 133/2019 – 30 October 2019
2020 VCE Briefings and Workshops
Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and VCE leadership team members
The VCAA strongly encourages members of VCE teams to attend an important professional development opportunity that will be offered at a variety of venues during February and March 2020.
The briefings are intended to give VCE school leaders and teachers, particularly new VCE coordinators, an overview of current VCE matters and the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge that can then be shared with teaching teams.
The sessions will be interactive and participants will return to school with knowledge, skills and resources to share with colleagues. Areas covered in these briefings will include:
- executive overview
- Special Provision
- administrative update, including enrolment, school assessment, such as 'S' and 'N' decisions versus graded assessment, and the quality assurance process run by the VCAA
- curriculum update
- school-based assessment audit process outline and key finding
- curriculum workshop – unpacking a VCE Study Design
- approaches to developing school-based assessments.
In response to feedback from the 2019 VCE Briefings, the VCAA has, where possible, aligned regional briefings with the 'Analysing your school’s VCE results' training.
Participants can register for only one session; if a session is full, it will not be possible to register. Confirmation of registration will be sent to the participant's email address. Sessions are from 9am to 3.30pm.
Principals/Directors should notify relevant staff of the scheduled 2020 VCE Briefings and Workshops.
These briefings do not replace the training provided for VASS or VCE data analysis.
