Notice to Schools 142/2020 – 5 October 2020

Update to operational guidance for COVID-safe delivery of the 2020 General Achievement Test (GAT)

Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and Exam Centre Coordinators

The VCAA has updated both the Operational guidance for COVID-safe delivery of the 2020 General Achievement Test (GAT) and Guidance for students completing the 2020 General Achievement Test (GAT) in line with the Department of Education and Training Term 4 Operations Guide: Victorian Government schools.

The key changes are as follows:

  • mandatory temperature testing of students prior to entry into the GAT is no longer required
  • face masks – as defined in the guides – must be worn by students, supervisors and school personnel. Face shields, scarves or bandanas do not meet these requirements.

Action required

Principals/Directors should ensure:

  • School personnel and supervisors responsible for managing the conduct and administration of the 2020 General Achievement Test (GAT) are made aware of the revisions to operational requirements and provided with the updated version of the Operational guidance for COVID-safe delivery of the 2020 General Achievement Test (GAT)
  • Students expected to sit the GAT on Wednesday 7 October are also made aware of the revisions to operational requirements and provided with the updated version of the Guidance for students completing the 2020 General Achievement Test (GAT).

Critical dates

Wednesday 7 October – 2020 General Achievement Test (GAT)
