VCE Classical Studies Classical Works Advisory Panel applications

Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and Teachers of VCE Classical Studies

Applications are sought from suitably qualified people for membership of the Classical Works List Advisory Panel. Applications can be lodged through the VCAA Sessional Staff Management System (SSMS). The closing date is Friday 11 December 2020.

The VCE Classical Works List Advisory Panel advises the VCAA on appropriate classical works for inclusion in the prescribed works list.

The advisory panel typically consists of between seven and 10 members and will meet on three occasions during the year. Panel meetings will be held online and/or within the vicinity of the VCAA office at 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.

Panel members:

  • will be appointed from schools, universities and training institutions, and other sectors where appropriate
  • are appointed according to their expertise, experience and capacity to contribute to the text selection process
  • will be appointed for a three-year term.

Members of the panel must ensure that they are familiar with the details of the relevant accredited VCE Classical Studies study Design 2019–2024, and, in particular, with the role of classical works within them.

In your application please indicate which of the following you are an expert in: Greek texts, Greek material culture, Roman texts and/or Roman material culture. Applicants should also make themselves aware of the VCAA Principles and procedures for prescribed VCE Text Lists.

Action required

Principals/Directors should ensure they share this information with VCE Classical Studies teachers.
