Notice to Schools 30/2020 – 26 February 2020
2020 School-based Assessment Audit
Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and VASS Administrators
The purpose of the School-based Assessment Audit is to help protect the integrity of the VCE and its results. The audit checks that the standards and requirements set out in VCE study designs are being followed and that assessment is being carried out in line with the
VCE assessment principles.
All schools are audited annually for at least one VCE study and all VCE studies are subject to the School-based Assessment Audit.
Schools were notified of their requirements for the audit through VASS on Monday 24 February 2020.
The following screen in VASS contains the list of studies being audited:
School Program > VCE > School-based Assessment Audit.
In the first stage of the audit, teachers of VCE studies complete a study-specific audit questionnaire on behalf of their school with the support of the principal (or principal’s delegate). The responses provided by the school to the audit questionnaire enable the VCAA to determine whether School-based Assessment is following the specifications and requirements set out in the accredited VCE study design and the VCE assessment principles. Study-specific audit questionnaires must be completed online via the
School-based Assessment Audit webpage. PDF copies of the audit questionnaires can be accessed through the VASS downloads menu for reference purposes.
VASS also contains instructions for schools on how to complete the first stage of the audit.
