Notice 99 2020

Notice to Schools 99/2020 – 15 July 2020

VCE Australian History examination

Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and teachers of VCE Australian History

In 2020, each of the two questions in Section C will comprise four sub-parts for a total of 25 marks. Students must attempt one of the two questions. The additional sub-part is worth 5 marks and will assess the same skills as the current 6-mark sub-part question. The number of sources used for Section C will remain the same as in previous years and as reflected in the sample examination.

In 2020, each of the Section D questions will remain as extended-answer questions and should not be regarded as an essay. Students must attempt one of the five questions. In this section, the increase from 10 marks in previous years to 15 marks in 2020 reflects a commensurate increase in the length required to respond to the question.

Action required

Principals/Directors should ensure that teachers of VCE Australian History are aware of the changes to the 2020 Australian History examination as a result of the 2020 Adjusted Study Design for History.
