Notice to Schools 107/2021 – 4 August 2021
2021 General Achievement Test observation visits
Principals/directors, VCE coordinators and Examination Centre coordinators
VCAA-appointed senior project officers may attend your school to monitor the conduct and administration of the General Achievement Test (GAT). The purpose of these observations is to ensure that schools comply with all VCAA requirements for the conduct and administration of the GAT.
Senior project officers will observe procedures before, during and after the GAT and will complete a report on their visit.
If a senior project officer visits your school, they will initially report to reception and present photographic identification, Working with Children Check or VIT card and a letter of introduction from the VCAA.
Senior project officers will wear a face mask at all times, maintain appropriate physical distancing and practice good and regular hand hygiene. In addition, they will comply with any additional requirements associated with each individual school's COVIDSafe plan.
Action required
Principals/directors, please make sure that relevant school personnel and chief supervisors are aware that a VCAA-appointed senior project officer may attend their school to observe the conduct and administration of the GAT.
Critical dates
Thursday 12 August – GAT held
Additional information
Principals will be provided with correspondence from the VCAA outlining any concerns raised during the observation and may be asked to respond formally should there be any issues that the VCAA believes need to be addressed. The senior project officer's role is not to assist with the conduct and administration of the GAT, nor should they be expected to fulfill the role of an additional supervisor or VCAA adviser. Any concern about these arrangements should be directed to the Project Manager, Examination Planning and Logistics.
