NAPLAN is an annual assessment of all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.

The NAPLAN test dates for 2026 were held from Wednesday 11 March to Monday 23 March.

All students completed writing on day 1, with day 2 used only where there were technical or logistical limitations preventing completion of testing on day 1. The other domains were scheduled after the writing tests in the following sequence: reading, then conventions of language, then numeracy. Schools may have needed to reschedule other Term 1 programs to accommodate the school’s planned testing schedule. For advice on scheduling, schools should refer to the NAPLAN national protocols for test administration.

Important information

Events such as camps, excursions, school sports and carnivals were not considered as logistical limitations and should not have been booked on day 1 of the test window (11 March 2026).

Individual catch-up tests for all tests other than Year 3 writing were permitted until Monday 23 March 2026.

Individual catch-up tests for Year 3 writing were permitted until Monday 16 March 2026.
