Hindi is an official language of India and Fiji. It is the most widely spoken language of the Indian subcontinent and is also widely spoken throughout the world in countries that include the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mauritius, the Gulf countries and Australia. Please refer to

The Victorian Curriculum F–10 Hindi has two interrelated strands, Communicating and Understanding, which are further divided into sub-strands. The Hindi curriculum recognises that there are different entry points into language learning across F–10, which reflects current language teaching practice.
There are two possible learning sequences:
- F–10 sequence for students who begin to learn the language in primary school and continue to Year 10.
- 7–10 sequence for students who begin to learn the language in Year 7.
