Unit 1: What ideas explain the physical world?
This unit focuses on thermodynamics, electricity and nuclear physics. Practical activities should not be limited to assessment tasks; they may be used to introduce a physics concept, to build understanding of a physics concept or skill and to practise specific scientific skills, for example, practical investigations related to the First Law of Thermodynamics, modelling of greenhouse effect, calculations related to resistance, current and potential voltage in electric circuits and analysis of decay series diagrams.
Area of Study 1: How can thermal
effects be explained?
Area of Study 2: How do electric
circuits work?
Area of Study 3: What is matter and
how is it formed?
