Adjusted Study Design for 2020 only

Teachers should note that they should only access the 2020 Adjusted Study Design. Deletions are in red coloured text and strike through while changes are in blue coloured text and highlighted. It is imperative that the revised 2020 Adjusted Study Design is used for the remainder of 2020.

Examinations will be based on the key knowledge and skills contained in the 2020 Adjusted Study Design. The 2020 Adjusted Study Design includes adjustments to the key knowledge and skills and the scope of the assessment. Teachers can be assured that students will only be externally assessed on the content in the 2020 Adjusted Study Design.

Wolfram Resource Packages

These resource packages use Wolfram Mathematica®. The Department of Education and Training (DET) has obtained Wolfram Mathematica® software licenses for all staff and students at Government, Catholic and Independent schools in Victoria.

Modelling Contagious Diseases – this resource package investigates the spread of disease, the effectiveness of vaccines and herd immunity. Specifically designed for VCE Biology Unit 3, Outcome 2 it can also be adapted for Level 9-10 Science.

Study design for implementation in 2022

The newly accredited Biology Study Design that was to be delivered by schools in 2021 will be delayed by 12 months and will be delivered by schools in 2022. The accreditation period will now be 2022 to 2026. This study design will be published on this webpage in February 2021. A copy of the Biology Study Design 2022–2026 is available on request, please email vcaa.vce.curriculum@edumail.vic.gov.au.

In 2021, schools must ensure they use the Biology Units 1–2: 2016–2021 and Units 3–4: 2017–2021 Study Design.

Study Design - Accreditation period Units 1 and 2 2016-2021

Units 1 and 2 accreditation period has been changed and now expires 31 December 2021. Do not use in 2020 refer to the Adjusted Study Design for 2020 at the top of this webpage.
