VCE VET coursework audits

School Coursework Audit Notification (SCAN) emails will be sent to Assessing Groups for the 2022 audit of their scored VCE VET programs. It is important to follow the instructions included with the email. The school or registered training organisation identified as the Assessing Group is responsible for providing the audit material.

Questions regarding the audit can be directed to the VET Unit on (03) 9059 5195.

Top Designs

The Season of Excellence provides a great opportunity to recognise outstanding work in a significant public setting. Top Designs (as part of the VCE Season of Excellence) presents works from the following VCE VET Programs:

  • Furnishing
  • Engineering
  • Integrated Technologies
  • Music (Sound Production)
  • Creative and Digital Media.

If you have a student who achieves an A or A+ for a Product Task, please encourage them to apply for Top Designs.

VCE VET Hospitality Supplementary Advice

Teachers and trainers are invited to contribute to the development of the new teaching resource for VCE VET Hospitality. For more information, email the Program Manager, Learning and Teaching.

Structured workplace learning

Recognition program review

Next month we will commence a review of the structured workplace learning (SWL) recognition program, which was introduced in 2018. The review will support continuous improvements to program assurance, quality and assessment requirements.

2022 summary updated

The 2022 SWL summary has been updated.

Please note that mandatory workplace requirements for the purposes of work-place based assessment are included in the listed qualifications, as per the training package requirement.

Some of the units within the following qualifications require assessment in the workplace: hours

  • CHC24015 Certificate II in Active Volunteering – 20 hours
  • CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care – 160 hours
  • HLT33015 Certificate III in Allied Health – 80 hours
  • HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (for the specialisation Assisting in nursing work in acute care) – 80 hours

Evidence of a work placement must be collected as part of the performance evidence in the units in which the requirement appears. Evidence may include timesheets, logbooks, meeting minutes or other forms of workplace documentation.

VCE, VCAL and VET teacher and trainers, senior school leaders, VET coordinators and careers coordinators are invited to attend. VASS administrators are also welcome to attend or receive a copy of the information specific to VASS data entry.

VCE VET statewide workshops

In November we will host a series of professional learning opportunities to support schools and providers and to deliver VET. The workshops will also provide essential 2023 information updates, including:

  • program updates, enrolments and trends
  • school-based apprenticeships or traineeships and SWL recognition
  • Get VET resources
  • VET recognition in the VCE, VCE VM, VPC or VCAL
