Congratulations to Top Screen Jury Prize winners

The Top Screen Jury Prize celebrates outstanding filmmaking talent to encourage development of skills and passion. Prize winners were announced at the Top Screen Premiere on 17 March at ACMI, where award-winning filmmaker William Duan, director of Ensemble Films, officially launched Top Screen 2023.
This year's winning film was Going
Home – Về Nhà by Han Nhi Ngo from Williamstown High School. The first runner up was
Earl Dreams of Apples by Emile Feik from University High School and the second runner up was
I’m a Background Character by Jasmine Lane from Casey Grammar School. The Jury Prize is generously sponsored by Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) and ACMI. Each winner received a MIFF Share Pass, ACMI Membership and merchandise, and a place on the MIFF Youth Jury Panel.

This year’s Jury Prize was selected by MIFF Publications and Audience Development Manager Adolfo Aranjuez, ACMI School Programs Producer Garry Westmore, and Tess Hamilton, Incentives Coordinator at VicScreen.
The winning film,
Going Home – Về Nhà, is a coming-of-age film that follows the journey of a Vietnamese girl trying to negotiate her identity and culture.
‘Moving, lyrical and intimate with a clear voice and distinct point of view – Han Nhi Ngo has a keen grasp of the craft. We can’t wait to see more from this filmmaker,’ said Tess Hamilton.
In-person screenings will show at ACMI until 28 April, then the program will continue to be available online via ACMI’s Cinema 3.
