There’s an adage in the theatre business that says the show must go on. And, just as a host of major cultural institutions around the world expand into digital spaces, so too does the show go on for the VCE Season of Excellence.
In partnership with Melbourne Museum and ACMI, we have been finding new ways to share the incredible creative work of VCE students from 2019. For the first time, like many aspects of our daily lives at the moment, you can enjoy the Season of Excellence from the comfort of home. From quirky animated films and captivating monologues, to robotic arms and innovative furniture, remote learning classrooms will have plenty to appreciate.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary at Melbourne Museum,
Top Designs 2020 features a virtual tour of the exhibition and detailed exhibitor statements, with 88 works offering a glimpse into the future of Australian design.
‘I was blown away by the strength of these remarkable designs, products and folios,’ writes exhibition curator Anna McLeod.
‘We are incredibly proud to now share and celebrate these outstanding works with visitors online. We hope that the virtual tour and digital collection of works gives viewers a sense of how brilliant the exhibition is.’
In addition, the full 90-minute program of
Top Screen 2020, an eclectic collection of 15 exceptional short films, is now available via ACMI for all VCE Media teachers by request.
Back stage, performers of Top Class Drama and Theatre Studies have been self-recording their outstanding solos, which we will present on our website in the coming weeks.
As Term 2 progresses, we will also release further educational resources, including webinars with student filmmakers, exhibitors and performers.
To all the talented students who are a part of this year’s Season of Excellence, we congratulate you on your outstanding achievements. We also thank our partner venues and sponsors for your ongoing support and for rising to the challenge during this unprecedented time.
