Message from the CEO
I’m pleased to update you on a significant piece of work to ensure the VCAA continues to support excellence in education practice and quality outcomes for students.
As part of our transformation, we have established a Vision and Mission to put students at the centre and to guide our work, decision making and engagement.
Our Vision is to provide a trusted and coherent Victorian learning continuum, where rigorous standards and equitable pathways allow all Victorian learners to thrive.
Our Mission articulates what our Vision looks like in practice.
We will set and uphold curriculum, assessment and reporting standards, and ensure they are coherent and accessible, so that teachers and schools can deliver a high-quality, fair and connected learning journey with clearly defined and inclusive pathways.
It is clear to us that our reputation should be an outcome of credible work, and relies on 4 principles:
- trust that standards are credible, defensible and transparent;
- coherence so curriculum, assessment and reporting function as a connected continuum rather than fragmented components;
- rigour so expectations hold over time and across contexts; and
- equity so standards and pathways are accessible and fair for all learners, including those historically under-served.
To embed this approach, we have publicly committed to working closely with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of curriculum and assessment products and tools that meet the highest standards and serve Victorian schools and students.
We are listening to schools and learners across all sectors, while ensuring our interactions are transparent, inclusive, responsive and accountable.
Our commitment to all stakeholders is that we will continue to deliver consistent, timely and accurate information to keep you up to date on changes to curriculum and assessment, and important educational reforms.
I look forward to working with you to achieve these goals, and deliver excellence and equity for Victorian learners.
