Strengthening ties with education communities

The VCAA have been part of several key events across the education calendar including the VCE Careers and Trade & Tech Fit expos, as well as the Government Schools Principals Conference. Supporting the Department of Education and the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership, these events brought great success with more than 45,000 principals, students and parents in attendance.

The VCE and Careers Expo
In its 33rd year, the VCE and Careers Expo is the premier event for students, parents, educators and job seekers offering a platform to explore educational and career opportunities. The VCAA talked students through its Where to Now Guide to provide advice to students on all things VCE and the pathways available to set them up for success after school.
Trades & Tech Fit Expo
The VCAA were proud to be involved in the largest trade and technology expo for females and gender diverse secondary students. The new Shape Your VCE campaign was unveiled to students at the event. This campaign provides key facts for students, and their families, about studying VET as part of their VCE, VCE VM and VPC. Shape Your VCE also shows how VET can help students prepare for what comes next, whether it be learning skills for full or part-time work, gaining real-world experience outside the classroom, or preparing for TAFE or university. The event was a key opportunity to meet with different trades and educators in a welcoming environment and empowered future leaders and tradies through the VCE/VET opportunities available.

Principal’s Conference
Held across 2 days, the conference provided evidence-informed professional learning, inspiring presentations, workshops and networking opportunities. The VCAA engaged in inspiring stories of how each school approached the ‘Achieve Excellence in Every Classroom’ theme and listened and engaged with a large number of principals in attendance. It was a chance to also share updates on the new F-10 Curriculum 2.0 and the Digital Assessment Library’s new platform.
