Notice to Schools 190/2020 – 9 December 2020
Rescheduling of GAT trials and introduction of minimum literacy and numeracy standards
Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and VCAL Coordinators
In order to reduce the burden on schools during the disruption brought about by coronavirus (COVID-19), trialling for the new General Achievement Test (GAT) has been rescheduled to 2021.
As a result, the first year of administration of the redeveloped GAT, which incorporates minimum standards testing for literacy and numeracy, will be in 2022.
The VCAA is appreciative of the continued support provided by schools that nominated for trials in 2020. Further advice regarding the rescheduled trials in 2021 will be provided to these schools before the end of Term 4, 2020.
Further information regarding timing and arrangements for the introduction of minimum literacy and numeracy standards testing will be provided to schools in Term 1, 2021.
