Adjusted Study Design for 2020

Teachers should note that they should only access the 2020 Adjusted Study Design. Deletions are in red coloured text and strike through while changes are in blue coloured text and highlighted. It is imperative that the revised 2020 Adjusted Study Design is used for the remainder of 2020.

Examinations will be based on the key knowledge and skills contained in the 2020 Adjusted Study Design. The 2020 Adjusted Study Design includes adjustments to the key knowledge and skills and the scope of the assessment. Teachers can be assured that students will only be externally assessed on the content in the 2020 Adjusted Study Design.

Please note: corrections have been made to the VCE Adjusted Study Design for 2020 to fix inconsistencies and errors in the original adjusted version (published on 1 May 2020). The corrections made were:

  • page 17 – Reference to the number of texts required for study has been amended from five to four as per the amendments elsewhere in the adjusted Study Design

Study Design amendment

Teachers should note that there has been an amendment to the VCE Literature Study Design 2017–2020. To clarify the requirements for the texts to be used for assessment tasks in Units 3 and 4 Literature, pages 17 and 21 of the study design have been updated. The 'Assessment of levels of achievement' on these pages is now: 'In assessing levels of achievement across Units 3 and 4, teachers must also ensure that the assessment tasks are based on a least five texts. Students must not complete more than two assessment tasks using the same text.'

Study review

Study Review Plan

The Study Review Plan provides key information on the review of VCE Literature, being conducted in 2020/21. The Study Review Plan is currently being updated to reflect the new timelines due to the 12-month extension to the accreditation periods for all currently accredited VCE study designs. The updated Study Review Plan will be published soon. VCE study designs currently under review in 2020/21 will now be delivered by schools in 2023 (rather than 2022).

Consultation on the proposed VCE Literature Study Design will be conducted in 2020/21. The draft study design and consultation questionnaire will be available for consideration on this page during 2020/21.
