VCE VET Cisco

The VCE VET Cisco program is drawn from Victorian accredited curriculum and Cisco Networking Academy's Cisco CCNA curriculum. It offers partial completion of a portable qualification which is recognised throughout Australia and recognition for CCNA certification. The VCE VET Cisco program enhances employment opportunities and pathways to further education and training in the information and communications technology industry. The Cisco Networking Academy Program is an international training system allowing educational institutions to deliver a range of 'vendor' training programs developed by Cisco Systems.

The VCE VET Cisco program does not offer scored assessment.

Qualification

CISCO22519VIC Cisco – CCNA v7: The VCE VET Cisco program incorporates units from the Certificate IV in Integrated Technologies, and has been structured to provide recognition for CCNA v7. Cisco training must be delivered by a Cisco Local Academy. Units of competency have been written to address the Cisco curriculum. These sit within 22519VIC Certificate IV in Integrated Technologies. Units of competency must be completed and awarded by a registered training organisation that has the 22519VIC Certificate IV in Integrated Technologies on their scope of registration.

For VASS recording purposes, schools are required to enrol into Certificate type VE1, Cisco - CCNA v7.

The VCE VET Cisco structure is comprised of two 190 hour programs.

Program A:

VU22963 Build and implement a basic network – 100 hours (Aligned with CCNA Introduction to Networks).

VU22964 Configure a small to medium network for an organisation – 90 hours (Aligned with CCNA Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials).

Credit in the VCE (including VCE VM and VPC): recognition of a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence.

Program B:

VU22965 Secure and monitor the performance of a small to medium network – 100 hours (Aligned with CCNA Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials).

VU22966 Investigate design concepts of an accessible and secure network – 90 hours (Aligned with CCNA Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation).

Credit in the VCE (including VCE VM and VPC): recognition of a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence.

Program material

The VCE VET Cisco program booklet contains information relating to the training approved by the VCAA for delivery to VCE (including VCE VM and VPC) students.

It includes advice on the units of competency making up the program and the credit available for students.

It also provides advice on Structured Workplace Learning, the ATAR contribution and pathways to further learning.

The program booklet should be read in conjunction with the Cisco Networking Academy's Cisco CCNA curriculum.

ATAR contribution

Students who receive a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence for VCE VET Cisco will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies).

Structured workplace learning recognition

The VCAA provides recognition for Structured Workplace Learning for students undertaking VCE VET programs.
