Unit 4 - Area of Study 3: Product evaluation
Outcome 3
Evaluate the finished product through testing and feedback against criteria, create end-user/s’ instructions or care labels and recommend improvements to future products.
Examples of learning activities
- Discuss how to meet with the end-user/s to gather feedback about the finished product. Develop an online evaluation form using Google Forms or SurveyMonkey for the end-user/s to complete. Questions developed could include information about the design brief’s constraints and considerations.
- Choose a range of media such as video/audio recordings or written formats to record end-user/s feedback on the finished product.
- Develop evaluation criteria from the design brief with each criterion consisting of the following four parts:
- a question
- justification and relevance to the design brief
- the process used to evaluate the success of the product
- how the finished product could be tested or checked.
- Determine if the finished product relates to the original idea of the product. Both the student and the end-user/s visually compare the finished product with a previously developed mood board.
- Present images of the finished product to the end-user/s, which include annotations about meeting the design brief and links to the product design factors.
- Develop appropriate methods of testing/checking each of the pre-determined product evaluation criteria. Present the results as evidence to support the evaluation of the product.
