Together We Grow 2018 conference

The theme of this year's Early Learning Australia Association (ELAA) conference, 'Our Children – Our Communities', will focus on preschool children and the communities that influence, shape and support their development. The conference aims to provoke thinking and discussion about the importance of the broader relationships between educators, researchers, policy-makers, specialist service providers, parents, carers and communities to achieve the best learning outcomes for preschool children.

The keynote speaker, Jane Vadiveloo, is the Founding Chief Executive Officer of Children's Ground, and is a leader in advocacy, reform and service provision for First Nations children.

The conference will be held on Friday 25 May and Saturday 26 May 2018 at Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne; full details are available from the ELAA website.

Continuity of Early Learning – addressing vulnerability and disadvantage

Continuity of Early Learning is a new, fully subsidised professional learning program, delivered by Anthony Semann through the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership. It focuses on strengthening the partnerships that matter most for children to achieve successful transition to school – partnerships between early childhood, primary school and families. With an emphasis on supporting continuity of learning for children and families experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage, the course will consider:

  • What are the evidence-based practices that work?
  • How can your team implement these practices?
  • How can individuals in your team maximise their work together to achieve the very best possible outcomes for these children and families?

The course is designed for staff in schools, outside school hours care, early childhood services and support services, particularly those supporting transitions across settings.

The course will operate in Terms 3 and 4. Applications are not yet open but you can register your interest on the Bastow Institute website.
