Support for kindergarten teachers using the Online Transition Learning and Development Statement

Kindergarten teachers recently received login credentials for the new online Transition Learning and Development Statement (TLDS) on the Insight Platform.

A child's transition and learning development statement (TLDS) summarises their abilities as they start school and identifies their individual approaches to learning. It is passed on to the child's future school. The information in the TLDS helps prep teachers get to know the children entering their classes, and to plan appropriate learning and teaching programs. It is a kindergarten funding requirement that every child transitioning to school has a TLDS.

Kindergarten teachers who are used to online platforms, such as internet shopping or banking, are likely to find the online TLDS intuitive and easy to use.

For kindergarten teachers not confident in using the online platform, an Online TLDS introductory video and step-by-step User Guide have been created to assist you become familiar with and use the online TLDS.

Further support is available for kindergartens via State Library Victoria (SLV). SLV support staff are very responsive and can talk you through accessing the platform and the steps to take once you are logged into the system. SLV support includes:

The Department of Education and Training website also hosts a range of resources and support for online TLDS including guides and letters for families with children enrolled in kindergarten, explaining the new process and requirements in 31 languages. To view these resources visit DET's Transition to School webpage.
