The following VCE VET programs have been reviewed in 2023 and have been endorsed by the VCAA Board for implementation in 2024.

VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Ecosystem Management

AHC20122 Certificate II in Agriculture (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in AHC20122 Certificate II in Agriculture
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program AHC20116 Certificate II in Agriculture

AHC20422 Certificate II in Horticulture (Release 1)  

  • All new enrolments will enrol in AHC20422 Certificate II in Horticulture
  • All continuing students will enrol in the existing program AHC20416 Certificate II in Horticulture

AHC21216 Certificate II in Rural Operations (Release 1)

  • The first year of implementation
  • All new enrolments will enrol into AHC21216 Certificate II in Rural Operation

VCE VET Apparel, Fashion and Textiles

MST20722 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in MST20722 Certificate II in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program MST20616 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence
  • Extension granted to 31 January 2025

VCE VET Building and Construction

22614VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship (Version 1.0)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in 22614VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship
  • All continuing students, enrolled prior to 30 June 2023, will remain in the existing program 22338VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence

VCE VET Community Services

CHC24015 Certificate II in Active Volunteering (Release 2)

  • All new and continuing students will enrol in in CHC24015 Certificate II in Active Volunteering
  • Updates to First Aid and Infection Control UoCs

CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services (Release 4)

  • All new and continuing students will enrol in CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services
  • Updates to First Aid and Infection Control UoCs

CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services (Release 3)

  • All new and continuing students will enrol in CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services
  • Updates to First Aid and Infection Control and imported UoCs

VCE VET Engineering Studies (Version 1.0)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in 22632VIC Certificate II in Engineering Studies
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program 22470VIC Certificate II in Engineering Studies to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence
  • There can be no new enrolments in 22470VIC Certificate II in Engineering Studies in 2024
  • The first year of the new scored program will be 2024

  • 22513VIC Certificate III in Equine Studies expires on March 31, 2025

SIT20122 Certificate II in Tourism (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in SIT20122 Certificate II in Tourism (VE1)

SIT30122 Certificate III in Tourism (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in SIT30122 Certificate III in Tourism (VE1)
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program SIT30116 Certificate III in Tourism (VE3) to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence

SIT30522 Certificate III in Events (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in SIT30522 Certificate III in Events (VE1)
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program SIT30516 Certificate III in Events (VE3) to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence

HLT23221 Certificate II in Health Support Services (Release 1)

  • All new and continuing students will enrol in HLT23221 Certificate II in Health Support Services

HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program HLT33015 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance (incorporating HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance) to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence
  • There can be no new enrolments in HLT33015 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance (incorporating HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance) in 2024
  • ASQA granted an extension for HLT33015 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance only until 31 December 2024
  • The first year of a new scored program will be 2025 with the Unit 3–4 sequence containing one new UoC elective

HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Release 5)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program HLT33015 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance (incorporating HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance) to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence
  • There can be no new enrolments in HLT33015 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance (incorporating HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance) in 2024
  • The first year of a new scored program will be 2025 with the Unit 3–4 sequence containing one new UoC elective

VCE VET Laboratory Skills

MSL20122 Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement (Release 1)

  • The first year of implementation
  • All new enrolments will enrol in MSL20122 Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement (VE1)

MSL30122 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills (Release 1)

  • All new and continuing students will enrol in MSL30122 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills
  • Students who commenced MSL30118 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills in 2023, will be required to complete a ‘gap assessment’ for a single unit
  • The first year of the new scored program will be 2024

VCE VET Small Business

22629VIC Certificate II in Small Business Operations and Innovation (Version 1.0)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in 22629VIC Certificate II in Small Business Operations and Innovation
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program 22480VIC Certificate II in Small Business (Operations/Innovation) to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence

VCE VET Sport and Recreation

SIS20122 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in SIS20122 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program SIS20115 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation

SIS30122 Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation (Release 1)

  • All new enrolments will enrol in SIS30122 Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation
  • All continuing students will remain in the existing program SIS30115 Certificate III in Sport and Recreation to allow for accrual of Unit 3–4 sequence
  • The first year of a new scored program will be 2025
  • ASQA granted an extension for SIS30115 Certificate III in Sport and Recreation until 31 December 2024

High-level qualifications 2024

Any qualification at Certificate IV or Diploma level is considered a high-level qualification for senior secondary purposes.

Schools or providers planning to deliver high-level VET qualifications in 2024 are reminded that an application must be submitted and approved before commencing any training.

Late amendments to VET results on VASS

Students may have the opportunity to undertake additional classes around or after November 13 to complete practical assessments deferred from earlier this year. This may be VET delivered at a school, at an RTO, or as part of an apprenticeship or traineeship. Where a student achieves competency after the November 13 VASS results cut-off date, schools can apply to the VCAA for an amendment to the student’s VET results. This may subsequently lead to the satisfactory completion of their VCE or VCE VM certificate.

VCE VET State Reviewer vacancies for 2023

Applications are invited for the vacant VCE VET State Reviewer position for 2023 in the following programs:

  • Hospitality
  • Cookery
  • Engineering.

VCE VET statewide webinars

In November and December, the VET unit will host professional learning webinars to support schools and providers to deliver VET. The webinars will also provide essential 2024 information updates, including:

  • program updates, enrolments and trends
  • school-based apprenticeships or traineeships and SWL recognition
  • Get VET resources
  • VET recognition in the VCE, VCE VM or VPC.

VCE VET Laboratory Skills Implementation webinar 

An implementation webinar will be held from 1pm – 3pm Wednesday 6 December for the new VCE VET Laboratory Skills program. The webinar will provide transition advice, information on program changes and structure and an overview of new units of competency. 

Teachers, trainers, VET Coordinators, and training providers interested should register at the VET professional learning page.

VCE VET Scored Assessment Audit

School Coursework Audit Notification (SCAN) emails have been sent to selected schools and RTOs for the 2023 audit of their scored VCE VET programs. It is important to follow the instructions included with the email. The school/RTO identified as the Assessing Group has the responsibility of providing the audit material to the VCAA. Questions regarding the audit can be directed to the VET Unit on (03) 9059 5195.
