Task Summary

Students were asked to create a short presentation for a children’s television show for a target audience of children between the ages of 8 and 12. The student chose to create an instructional video about how to make slime.

Delivering informative presentations


Duration: 4 minutes 8 seconds

The student:
Delivers a sustained spoken instructional text.
Includes details and elaborations to expand ideas (‘any glue would work’, ‘this is what the end result should look like’, ‘this will get messy’).
Uses connectives to signal a change (‘our first step’, ‘our next step’).
Selects more specific words (‘form’, ‘clump up’, ‘knead’) to replace general words.
Controls tone, volume, pitch and pace to suit content and audience.
Uses register according to purpose and audience.
Rehearses spoken text.
