Assessment of children as confident and involved learners

This seminar (Wednesday 15 May 2019) launched the VCAA resource, Assessment of Children as Confident and Involved Learners in Early Childhood Education and Care: Literature Review. This literature review, led by Dr Jen Jackson and Dr Dan Cloney, sets out, in the context of the VEYLDF Learning Outcome:

  • how to define children as confident and involved learners
  • explores the principles for assessing children
  • a summary of tools for assessing children
  • an evaluation of these tools.

The seminar featured both researchers in a discussion with Suzy Chandler, Executive Director, Curriculum, VCAA.

Dr Jackson's key interests are education system improvement, and the research–policy interface, with a particular interest in early childhood education and care, having worked in early childhood policy and regulation, and completed her PhD on early childhood workforce development.
